Year 4 Egyptian Day
Year 4 experienced life as an Egyptian today to enhance their current topic. We were very lucky to have a member from History Off the Page visit us to provide this workshop.
The children and staff dressed up in character to understand the reign of Akhenaten through a range of practical activities and role play which included: mummification; canonic jars; carving; ink making and writing; amulet making; perfume cone making and shabti dolls.
The afternoon session demonstrated the power and majesty of Akhenaten and Nefertiti in the royal court of Amarna where children split into groups to rehearse their roles in the Royal Court, or as slaves, actors, dancers or priests. The afternoon finished with a banquet sampling foods from the time.
A fun day was had by everyone.
